KATE BROWNE, artist

Kate Browne has been working on the international COCOON series, which examines sites of forced and voluntary migrations and the epidemics that follow since 2008. She has created Cocoons—works incorporating installations and performances—in Paris; Mexico City; Greenwood and Jackson Mississippi; the Bronx; Miskolc, Hungary; and, most recently, Steelton, Pennsylvania. Browne grew up in rural Pennsylvania, graduated from Hampshire College, and now lives in New York City. Send an email

Eric Etheridge has photographed Kate Browne’s work since 2008. He has worked as an editor for magazines such as Rolling Stone, Seven Days, the New York Observer, and Harper's. He is also author and photographer of Breach of Peace: Portraits of the 1961 Mississippi Freedom Riders.


MARTIAL BUISSON, production

Martial Buisson has worked for Cocoon since 2012, when he produced When Skin Walks with Memory with his nonprofit GFR (now Hypermur). Since then, he has served as a consultant and executive producer for Kate Browne. For 8 years, he produced art projects in public spaces in Paris and now co-runs Image de Ville, a film festival on architecture in Marseille. Send an email
